Q: Taylor, are you a little bummed that Edward got the hot vampire bride and you got a baby as your soul mate?
Taylor Lautner: I’ve gotten over that by now. But originally, I remember the first time reading the fourth book… I was so confused. He’s trying to get Bella the whole time, and he strikes out – so he goes with her child?! You have to tread lightly because [imprinting, the process by which wolves soul-mate for life] is a very special thing, and it’s not romantic at all. We definitely had to film in a certain way and I think that Bill did an incredible job with that. Luckily we had Stephenie [Meyer] on set the entire time. Trust me, I asked her a million times, explain to me one more time what imprinting is. Now, after seeing the final version, I’m really happy with it. It’s emotional, and they did a really cool job with flashbacks and tying in a voiceover. So it really is a very special moment, but on the day [we filmed], it was a leap of faith.

Q: Taylor, can you understand why Jacob would not just let Bella go?
Lautner: I go back and forth with Jacob’s persistence. Most of the time, yeah, I can understand it, because there’ve been things in my life that I have wanted so much and when you’re told no, you just gotta go for it. If you’re told no, and you say oh ok, and you give up, I wouldn’t be sitting here today. If you believe in something, if you love something, you gotta go for it no matter what. So most of the time, I could relate.
