Could you imagine? I don’t know if I would even want to! Read the rest from Zimbio below:
Kristen Stewart skyrocketed to fame when she was cast as Bella Swan in the Twilight film series, but Michelle Trachtenberg recently revealed that she could have nabbed the role.
“There was definitely interest here and there because there’s only so few pale girls in Hollywood,” the 26-year-old actress told US Weekly when she attended the grand opening of LOLA in New York City on Wednesday night.
“I’ve known [director] Catherine Hardwicke since the movie Thirteen,” she added. “I was actually supposed to star in that, but I was on Buffy at the time.” Hardwicke, of course, directed the first Twilight film and cast KStew in the highly coveted Bella role.
Trachtenberg said that her Buffy shooting schedule was the main reason why she never got to play Bella Swan. But if the stars had aligned and schedules had permitted, here are three ways that we think the Twilight Saga and all of its surrounding hysteria would have been different.
1. No Robert Pattinson
After Hardwicke cast Kristen Stewart as Bella, the actress got to read with all of the Edward Cullen hopefuls. When Hardwicke had trouble making her final decision, Stewart lobbied for Rob to get the role. “Are you kidding me!? Its such an obvious choice!” she recounted telling Hardwicke. “It couldn’t have been better. It was sort of perfect.”
As for Rob, he might not have even gone to the audition if it hadn’t been for Stewart. “Kristen is the best actress of our generation and that’s why I wanted to do this movie,” he told MTV News back in 2008. “I don’t know why she is. She’s just better than everybody else.”
2. Taylor Lautner Might Have Been Recast
After Twilight, rumors were rampant that the role of Jacob Black, Bella’s werewolf best friend, would be recast. Impossible as it may seem now, Taylor Lautner was thought to be too young and too skinny to undergo Jacob’s transition from boy to wolf man.
26-year-old Trachtenberg is seven years older than Lautner, while KStew is only two years older. That five year age difference could have made all the difference in the world when producers were considering whether the then 16-year-old Lautner was the right guy for theNew Moon gig. Imagine a world without Taylor Lautner’s rock hard abs. Tragic, no?
3. A Less Successful Twilight Saga
The Twilight novels were already wildly popular bestsellers when the movies were made, so the film franchise was always going to be successful. But the undercover romance that blossomed between Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson on the set of New Moon (and if you believe the rumors, probably even earlier than that) certainly sent the hype machine into overdrive.
Every tabloid in the world wanted a piece of their secret vampire love and photos of the Twilight stars were everywhere. That kind of publicity is absolutely priceless, and the Twilight films have undoubtedly reaped the benefits of the public’s insatiable desire to watch Rob and Kristen (as Edward and Bella) make googly eyes at each other. The movies would still have been very successful if Michelle Trachtenberg had been Bella, but we don’t think they’d be quite as mind-blowingly huge.

Michelle Trachtenberg is one of the most beautiful caucasian actresses that have been on the movies. I really love that girl.
