Originally, Malini Saba is from the South Asian area which has had few high-profile women philanthropists and global entrepreneurs, Saba received a P.H.D from the University of Western Australia and Stanford University. It was as a P.H.D. student that she became interested in finance and economics. She also began her first forays into venture capital investing in California. Malini Saba’s business sense and investment smarts helped her expand her holdings from stock and venture capital to worldwide assets of oil and gas. She sought advice from local investors and ran with it. Saba was a millionaire before she turned 35.
Giving back has always been an important part of Malini Saba’s life. Her philanthropic giving has made an impact for people around the world. Her interests have led to donations aimed at improving the health and financial circumstances of women. She used 1 million dollars to help start the first Heart Research Center for South Asians in California in 2005. This center has provided care for thousands of people thanks to her donation.
Another large project she helped fund was, in 2001. Saba collaborated with then President Clinton and Queen Noor of Jordan they inaugurated Stree. According to the Huffington Post, Stree is, “ a non-profit organization aimed at changing the way low income and at-risk women and children worldwide see themselves and their roles in society. Stree provides a means for women to access healthcare, legal empowerment and provide a forum for grassroots movements to connect with public policy in Africa, Central America, India and Eastern Europe.”
