When Greg Soros left a senior producer role at a prominent media company in 2020, the podcasting industry was obsessed with volume. Networks raced to publish as many shows as possible, betting that scale would win the market. Soros took a different path.

Rather than building a large content network, the Portland native founded Podcraft Media Lab in Austin, Texas a boutique production company focused entirely on premium-quality audio work. The decision looked unconventional at the time. In hindsight, it made him one of the most in-demand names in the business.

Building on Quality

Today, about 40% of Podcraft Media Lab’s business arrives through referrals within the audio content world, including major podcast networks that outsource their most prestigious projects to Greg Soros and his team. That kind of trust is hard to manufacture it comes from a consistent track record.

Soros traces his technical foundation to Berklee College of Music, where he developed an ear for audio craftsmanship that later defined his company’s output. Industry peers have taken to calling his approach a “signature sound” one that blends digital precision with organic audio textures in ways that set finished productions apart.

“We’ve positioned ourselves as the audio specialists like the master craftsmen of the podcasting world,” says Soros, speaking from his converted garage studio on Austin’s East Side. “When professionals need something done exceptionally well, they come to us.”

Podcraft Media Lab has maintained client satisfaction rates above 95%, with shows racking up thousands of downloads and several earning industry recognition. Soros has also launched more than 20 independent podcasts for underrepresented creators through his mentorship programs.

As a podcaster and production expert, Soros argues that trying to serve every type of client ultimately serves none of them well. His company analyzed its strengths early and committed fully to premium work a move that turned clients into long-term partners and, in some cases, turned competitors into collaborators.
